Abstract:
This case focuses on the problem of establishing a knowledge management system in the Rakurs Company, Russia, operating in the area of industrial automation. The company has been present in the Russian market for more than 18 years and achieved certain success witnessed by not only multiple awards, winning in competitions and certificates but also its customers' feedback. At the same time, the company's management team is concerned about the low labour productivity of the company personnel versus its major Western competitors. According to the CEO of the company, the problem can be overcome by establishing a self-training organisation, under which a system of standardisation and knowledge exchange among the employees of the company will be provided, to include uniform solutions for various power industry facilities. The company's development history, a general description of the economic sector, and the current status of the company are reviewed in this case. The company's strategy and its first steps toward establishing a self-training organisation and knowledge management system are analysed.
