ESMT’s case study collection is made up of more than 80 cases with corresponding teaching notes and includes video cases and other supplementary materials. Founding companies of ESMT, such as Bosch, EADS, E.ON, Deutsche Telekom, and Siemens, as well as other companies that focus on broader European issues and emerging markets figure substantially in the collection. The majority of the cases address general management challenges. ESMT cases place a special focus on leadership and HRM, technology-based industry, and social responsibility/ethics. Of particular interest within the collection are cases and video material from non-business settings like the arts or sports and the examination of new issues and concepts, such as the future of leadership, German technology companies in Asia, or far-reaching changes in financial service institutions. ESMT cases have regularly been recognized in European case-writing competitions winning nine awards from the Central and East European Management Development Association (CEEMAN), the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), and ecch.
