Mark is Director of Research and Professor of Business Strategy at Cranfield University School of Management. Prior to joining Cranfield he held positions at Nottingham University Business School, Massey Ferguson Ltd and the Lex Service Group.
Mark's teaching, research and consulting activities focus on the areas of strategy development, regional clusters, teamwork and innovation. He is currently chairman of the ecch executive committee, strategy advisor to Samaritans and was a member of the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2008 panel for business and management.
Mark uses case studies in both his research, which has included publications in Academy of Management Review, Organization Studies and the Journal of Management Studies, and in his teaching on MBA and executive programmes. His cases, which include Formula One Constructors and Transforming the Prancing Horse, are amongst ecch's bestselling cases and he has authored a number of practitioner books from his research.
