John Thompson is the Roger M Bale Professor of Entrepreneurship at the University of Huddersfield, UK, a Visiting Professor in Australia and Finland and has also taught in New Zealand. He has an MBA from Cranfield University, UK.
John has written extensively on entrepreneurship and strategy, including the textbook Strategic Management, now in its fifth edition. His research focuses on applied strategy and entrepreneurship, mostly in conjunction with organisations. Previously a manager in retailing and the steel industry, John advises organisations in the private, public and non-profit sectors and raised the funds to open a business incubator for the creative industries.
An experienced case writer, John specialises in short cases. He has been a tutor on ecch workshops since 2006 and is also a member of the ecch Executive Committee.
