The ecch open workshop portfolio covers both general aspects of case writing and teaching and programmes for specialised situations, such as executive education or undergraduate. Workshops are held regularly at international locations and range in length from one-day introductory workshops to comprehensive three-day events. ecch also runs workshops for teachers in sectors such as entrepreneurship and finance, which address the particular challenges of learning in specific areas.
Using cases in the classroom can be one of the most effective and enjoyable teaching methods for participants and the instructor. ecch holds workshops for case teachers at all levels of experience. Participants represent many disciplines and come from academic, business, non-profit and public sectors.
Case teaching workshops aim to develop confidence and help teachers plan and select the best materials and approaches for their students or colleagues. Through a combination of theory, discussion and practical exercises, the workshops provide insight into the dynamics of the case method, suggest tools and techniques for managing the process in the classroom, and consider the needs of particular groups of students.
Students demand ever more relevant and challenging materials and teachers often need to tailor cases to their classes. The ability to generate your own cases to use in the classroom can also greatly enhance your impact and enjoyment as a teacher.
ecch runs regular case writing workshops for both experienced and newer case writers and research assistants who write cases. The workshops aim to develop confidence in case writing, provide practical advice and help participants produce quality cases faster, with a more effective use of resources. Case writing workshops also cover the development of teaching notes and often include the opportunity to draft a case.
ecch tutors include some of the world's most experienced teachers of the case method, several of whom have written books on the subject. All are experienced case authors. Tutors aim to deliver courses with a practical focus, while helping participants develop insight into their own case writing and teaching and master new techniques. View tutor biographies
"The workshop gave me an insight into the complexity of case teaching and working on cases with business people. The follow-on workshop was a particularly stimulating, hands-on three-day event."
Pat Pledger, Business English Training (BET), Hamburg, Germany
"I found the workshop very inspiring with many opportunities to learn from the very competent tutors and colleagues. The workshop helped me hone my case teaching skills to benefit my students and enhance my pleasure as a teacher. I strongly recommend other case teachers to invest some time in this workshop."
Stéphane Lhuillier, HEC Paris, France
"The workshop enabled me to gain practical insights and to better understand how to teach more effectively with case studies and I am sure that I will implement most of the methodologies in my classes. Spending three days with an international group of faculty, who teach a variety of business disciplines, provided a great opportunity to discuss solutions to various teaching challenges and hear different attitudes. Thank you to the ecch Events Team for organising the accommodation and social dinners and creating a very pleasant and creative atmosphere where everyone could relax for a while, enjoy and make teaching the focus."
Michal Paserman, Webster University, Switzerland
