Our history

ecch was created in 1973 as the Case Clearing House of Great Britain and Ireland - the result of a co-ordinated initiative by 22 institutions of higher education. The aim was to establish a facility for exchanging case materials among teachers of business administration. The organisation obtained formal charity status in 1974.

A developing organisation

In 1991 we became the European Case Clearing House to reflect the growth in case writing and teaching throughout Europe. In 1992 we opened our US office at Babson College to serve the North American market. In 2005, the organisation was rebranded as ecch, to support the global reach of our operations.

The ecch community

ecch operates as a professional association of organisations engaged in management education and training. It is a non-profit 'membership' company with no share capital, and is a charity. Membership currently comprises over 800 institutions and corporations worldwide.

An executive committee establishes ecch policy and oversees operations. Elected annually from and by the members, it allows ecch to draw on experience from a wide range of academic and corporate organisations. Objectives and policies of the organisation therefore reflect the interests of the members.
