Everybody who isn't a financial professional is likely to assume that the numbers produced by finance and accounting departments are objective, black and white, indisputable. However, as this chapter reveals, finance and accounting are as much art as they are science, and are less a reflection of reality than the accumulation of financial professionals' assumptions and estimates.
