About WHU's case collection
WHU's case collection currently contains about 20 field-based cases on companies with operations in Germany. This can mean headquarters of German companies, foreign affiliates of German companies abroad or affiliates of companies with headquarters outside of Germany.
Most cases cover topics from international strategy and operations, namely purchasing and supply chain management. Companies come from various industries with a focus on industrial goods typical for the German economy. Special attention is given to the development of useful teaching material. All our cases are accompanied by teaching notes helping instructors to effectively teach the case.
Another feature is that we try to stimulate vigorous class discussion through the design of the cases. Students should be able to argue for different avenues the decision makers should pursue based on the case story.
The number of case studies in the WHU collection grows rapidly and will continue to do so as German speaking Europe is to cases what China is to production plants. Further, we are specifically focusing on cases for executive education as the demand for cases for this audience is clearly on the rise.

WHU - Otto Beisheim Graduate School of Management
The WHU Otto Beisheim Graduate School of Management is a private, state-accredited business school of university ranking. It was founded in 1984 through private initiative and, in turn, it fosters private initiative. It is supported by the non-profit WHU Foundation (Stiftung Wissenschaftliche Hochschule fur Unternehmensfuhrung).
Business management increasingly requires that complex tasks be solved in an international setting. We strive to respond to the resulting requirements by means of initial training, continuing education and research.
In the internationally focused and practice-oriented diploma program as well as in our Fulltime MBA Program (starting March 2005), we prepare our students for management responsibilities in international companies. Our objective is not just to provide them with the tools needed for career success: Our educational concept also promotes a sense of responsibility for the social and ecological consequences of their management decisions. The WHU also emphasises personality development. Studies abroad at two of the WHU's more than 130 partner universities deepen the students' knowledge of other cultures and promote both flexibility and mobility. The general studies program develops their discretion in ethical considerations, as well.
In addition to this program of initial professional education, WHU is active in in-service management development. Together with Kellogg School of Management, we offer an Executive MBA Program for managers. Metro Business Program and other company-related programs, complete our offering. Today's 15 academic chairs and more than 40 outside lecturers from Germany and other countries and drawn from the realms of academia and practice are guarantors for the WHU's practice-oriented teaching, flanked by independent scientific research. With 325 students in the diploma program and 120 participants in our MBA programs, we have an outstanding student-teacher ratio. Intensive lessons in small groups ensure that our students receive an excellent education within the scheduled time frame.
The personal, almost family-like atmosphere at the School is characterised by the fascination and commitment of everyone involved.
