The
European Case Awards have been presented by ecch annually since 1991.
They recognise and celebrate the success of the authors and
institutions of cases that have achieved the highest rates of growth in
popularity worldwide. Jeffrey Gray, Director of ecch,
commented, "Although a number of authors' names continue to appear in
the Case Awards lists from time to time, it is most encouraging to see
the presence of new names of both authors and institutions featuring
each year ? a clear indication of the continuing growth in high quality
case writing across a wide range of institutions".
Vincent
Dessain, Executive Director of Harvard Business School's Europe
Research Center, has been invited to present the 2005 awards at a
special dinner at Maison de la Recherche in Paris on Tuesday 6
September. The Dean of INSEAD, Gabriel Hawawini, himself a winner in
the Finance, Accounting and Control category this year, will, on behalf
of INSEAD, also accept The Sumantra Ghoshal Award for Excellence in
Case Writing, presented to the institution at which the overall winning
case was authored.
Notes for editors:

is the
largest single source of case studies in the world, with, currently, in
excess of 40,000 items in its case catalogue available to all through
www.ecch.com. ecch is dedicated to supporting authors and users of case
studies and promoting the case method of learning. It is an independent
membership-based, non-profit organisation with offices at Cranfield
University in the UK and Babson College in the USA. It provides the
interface between the authors of
cases and the educational institutions and businesses that use them for
teaching and learning purposes. ecch has an extensive international
programme of workshops and events on case writing and teaching.
The
European Case Awards are presented each year in up to nine categories
plus an overall winner, in the country of the institution at which the
overall winning case was authored. The Sumantra Ghoshal Award for
Excellence in Case Writing is presented annually to the business school
at which the overall winning case was developed. It was inaugurated in
2004 in memory of Sumantra Ghoshal, one of the most successful case
writers of recent times, following his untimely death. The Awards are
presented in association with BusinessWeek.
