Case teaching

Using cases in the classroom can be one of the most effective and enjoyable teaching methods for participants and the instructor. ecch holds workshops for case teachers at all levels of experience. Participants represent many disciplines and come from academic, business, non-profit and public sectors.

Case teaching workshops aim to develop confidence and help teachers plan and select the best materials and approaches for their students or colleagues. Through a combination of theory, discussion and practical exercises, the workshops provide insight into the dynamics of the case method, suggest tools and techniques for managing the process in the classroom, and consider the needs of particular groups of students.

Workshops are held regularly at international locations and range in length from one-day introductory case teaching workshops to comprehensive three-day events. ecch also runs case teaching workshops for teachers in sectors such as entrepreneurship and finance, which address the particular challenges of learning in specific areas.

Case writing

The ability to generate your own cases to use in the classroom can greatly enhance your impact and enjoyment as a teacher. Registering your cases with ecch provides the opportunity for your cases and your institution to become known around the world. Students demand ever more relevant and challenging materials and teachers often need to tailor cases to their classes.

ecch runs regular case writing workshops at international locations for both experienced and newer case writers and research assistants who write cases. The workshops aim to develop confidence in case writing, provide practical advice and help participants produce quality cases faster, with a more effective use of resources.

Case writing workshops also cover the development of teaching notes and often include the opportunity to draft a case. Most case writing workshops last between one and three days.

Tutors

ecch tutors include some of the world's most experienced teachers of the case method, several of whom have written books on the subject. All are experienced case authors. Click to view tutor biographies. Tutors aim to deliver courses with a practical focus, while helping participants develop insight into their own case writing and teaching and master new techniques.
