What does ecch do?

ecch is dedicated to promoting the case method of learning. Our case collection of management case studies and journal article reprints is the largest in the world. It is a unique and accessible resource for business school and university teachers worldwide who can order cases to teach with or register their own cases for distribution by us.

We are engaged in many activities to support the writing and teaching of cases. These include case method workshops, awards for successful case authors, scholarships and competitions. ecch publishes and distributes books on the case method. Our magazine ECCHO includes features about case teaching and writing, reviews of cases, authors talking about their new cases and information about case method events.


How is ecch funded?

ecch is a non-profit organisation and a registered charity. Our prices and fees are all set to cover our running costs only.


How is ecch governed?

ecch is an independent, educational, non-profit, membership based organisation and a registered charity with no share capital. ecch at Cranfield is governed by its Memorandum and Articles of Association. An honorary executive committee, elected from ecch member organisations, establishes ecch policy and oversees operations. An honorary board of directors supervises the operations of ecch at Babson.


How many items does ecch distribute?

We distribute over 50,000 management cases, supplementary materials, teaching notes, videos, DVDs, interactive CD-ROMs, book chapters and journal article reprints.


Who writes the cases distributed by ecch?

We distribute the case collections of the world's leading case-producing business schools and universities, and cases written by individual authors from across the globe.


How are the ecch award-winning cases chosen?

The annual European Case Awards are presented to authors of cases that achieve the highest rates of growth in popularity. The "popularity" is measured by the number of institutions that have ordered a case to teach with. It is a quantitative and objective assessment, which avoids subjective opinion.


What is ECCHO?

ecch publishes ECCHO, it's magazine, twice a year. It includes case reviews, features on case writing, case teaching and news and information on case method activities worldwide.


How can I receive ECCHO?

ECCHO is mailed free of charge to subscribers outside North America. Subscribers in North America can download a pdf free of charge from our website. Currently, more than 12,000 like-minded people read ECCHO worldwide and we always welcome new readers. Subscribe on-line.


Where are the ecch offices?

We have two offices, one at Cranfield University, UK and one at Babson College, USA. The office at Cranfield is our international administrative and production headquarters and serves our members and customers in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South America, Asia and Australasia. It is also the contact point for all case authors and case publishers worldwide. The office at Babson serves North American customers.


Is ecch part of Cranfield School of Management or Babson College?

No, we are an independent organisation. We rent our offices on the campuses of Cranfield University and Babson College for reasons arising out of our creation and history. We value the welcoming academic environment we are offered by both Cranfield and Babson.


What are ecch's opening hours?

Cranfield office: 8am to 5.30pm Monday-Thursday and 8am to 5pm on Fridays (GMT).
Babson office: 8am to 4.30pm Monday-Thursday and 8am to 4pm on Fridays (EST).


Can I visit ecch?

Yes, we welcome visitors. Please contact the relevant office or member of staff to make an appointment.
