About the Awards
Presented annually since 1991, the European Case Awards recognise outstanding case study development in Europe. Awards are made to authors of the cases that have achieved the highest and most consistent growth in popularity worldwide. The objective is to provide formal recognition and exposure for successful case authors and their institutions.
Awards are made in up to nine management categories, plus one overall winning case for each year. In 2004 a new award for the institution at which the overall winning case was authored was inaugurated in memory of Sumantra Ghoshal, one of the greatest case writers.
To celebrate their 21st birthday in 2011, the ecch European Case Awards will become a global event and a case writing competition has been launched. Authors are invited to submit entries to the competition by 30 September 2010.
Selection criteria
Awards are presented to authors of cases that achieve the highest rates of growth in popularity. ecch measures 'popularity' by reference to the number of institutions that have ordered a case to teach with. It is a quantitative and objective assessment, which avoids subjective opinion.
Awards presentation
ecch presents the Awards at an annual ceremony that includes a celebratory lunch or dinner and in the presence of a guest of honour from the world of cases or the subject matter of the overall winning case. The guest of honour generally addresses the guests and presents the Awards.
The 2010 annual European Case Awards will be presented at a special ceremony in London, UK in September 2010.
