Background to workshop

This free, interactive workshop is open to educators within CPP eligible countries and will guide participants through the fundamentals of the case method, case writing and case teaching. The experienced workshop tutor, Scott Andrews, will present examples of good practice; enabling participants to adapt the method for use in their own institutions.

Case studies, from a variety of subject disciplines, will be discussed in practical teaching sessions. Participants will experience the case method and be able to reflect upon the strengths and weaknesses of case teaching from a student, and an academic, perspective.

The tutor will provide guidance on case writing and present cases for critical analysis. Time will be allowed for participants to develop their own case writing skills, to work through writing models and to put some of the theory into practice. Participants will develop short-case material for use with their own students.

ecch is grateful to the National University of Rwanda (NUR) for their support in organising this workshop. The NUR was created in 1963 conjointly by the Rwandan government and the Congregation of the Dominicans from the Province of Quebec, Canada. It aims to generate and disseminate high quality multi-disciplinary knowledge and promote effective research, skills training and community service for national competitiveness and sustainable socio-economic development.
