How does ecch support me as a corporate trainer?
Our collection
At the heart of ecch lies the collection of over 50,000 management cases, supplementary materials, teaching notes, videos, interactive CD-ROMs, journal article reprints and individual book chapters. The cases we distribute come from the leading case producing schools worldwide, as well as the smaller collections of schools and individuals. Journal article reprints are available from Business Horizons, California Management Review, Harvard Business Review, HBR OnPoint and MIT Sloan Management Review. Individual book chapters can be supplied from a range of HBS Press books.
Many cases have accompanying teaching notes which are supplied to instructors only. A teaching note may help you identify and focus on the key learning outcomes designed in the case and to plan your class discussion and dynamics.
Finding and previewing cases
The most efficient way to explore our collection is to use our comprehensive on-line search facility. Our advanced search form provides a flexible tool to identify possible cases for your teaching needs. As a corporate trainer you may register for case search allowing you to order on-line. To view on-line inspection copies your organisation must be a corporate member of ecch. This facility will be available to you once your registration has been approved, giving you access to over 29,000 on-line inspection copies which you may use to assess the suitability of the material for possible teaching purposes. Click to find out if your organisation is a member.
Each month over 350 items are added to our collection. If you would like to receive information on these items every month you may subscribe to our free e-mail update service, selecting from up to nine subject categories. Alternatively, if you would prefer to receive this information quarterly, choose to receive our Case Collections Update that covers all subject categories and journal article reprints.
If you are having problems finding the right case, our friendly helpline staff are available to assist you with case search.
Ordering The quickest way to order your cases is on-line through case search. Having registered and been approved, the product formats, shipping options and pricing, appropriate to your user category, will display during the on-line ordering process.
Our corporate prices will apply to the items you order. If you are from an organisation that is a member of ecch you may use its account facility. If not, you are required to pre-pay.
Developing your case teaching skills
Whether you are new to case teaching, or would like to re-evaluate your skills, ecch offers you an opportunity to take time out at one of our popular case teaching workshops. Our flagship workshop, Teaching with Cases, is held annually over three days in association with the Richard Ivey School of Business. Other events of varying lengths are held regularly at locations across the world.
A number of books have been published on all aspects of the case method. These are useful tools to gain a deeper understanding of this effective teaching approach. These are all available through ecch, along with shorter articles on case teaching.
Our magazine, ECCHO, is published twice a year and includes case reviews, features on case teaching, and a free case for you to download and use with your students. Subscription is free and can be selected when you register for case search.
How does ecch support me as a case writer?
Registering your case with ecch
Registering your cases with ecch enables faculty and businesses worldwide to become aware of them and to use them in their educational programmes. ecch accepts cases for distribution from both organisations and individual authors. Royalties are paid to ecch member organisations for sales of cases authored by their staff. Before submitting a case to ecch, authors are responsible for testing it in the classroom and must obtain all necessary permissions and clarify copyright.
ecch aims to make case registration a straightforward process. To register a case you must complete a registration form, provide a copy of the case in the appropriate format and provide supporting documentation. View our on-line checklist to help you through this process.
Awards and competitions
Since 1991 the European Case Awards have been presented annually in recognition of outstanding case development in Europe. Awards are made to authors of the cases that display the highest and most consistent growth in popularity in management education worldwide.
The ecch website is a useful resource for case writers interested in submitting their cases in to one or more of the numerous competitions organised worldwide.
Developing your case writing skills
ecch offers workshops on the case writing process which suit both those new to this discipline and those looking to enhance their case preparation skills.
